Finding My Summer Balance

Good morning friend, happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and your week is off to a good start. Yesterday was one of the only 5 days we are home in the month of August. Oh yeah, we are way past the weekends filling up and now we are lucky to have one day home per week. Is most of it fun stuff? Yes! So far we have been hiking at the Morton Arboretum, gone to the Field Museum, a day at the water park, Brookfield zoo (weekly), our local pool (weekly), trips to our lake house for beach & boat days, cousin play dates, weekly local play dates, trips to the splash pad, STEM camp, and more! Yes, our summer has been very full of fun and we still have four more weeks to go. Yes, four weeks to go still and to be honest, I am finding it difficult to balance my work like with our summer schedule.

Any other stay-at-home moms out there feel like because they are home and can do lots of fun summer stuff, they should daily? Just me? ;) The past six weeks that my kids have been home, I find myself doing all my photo edits, write ups, and emails between the hours of 5am-9am and then again from 8pm-11pm. And it worked for a while! But now as I sit here typing at 6:13am the day the blog post is going live, I think about how behind I am... and also how tired I am. I use to have weeks worth of content in my drafts and now I'm lucky to get 1-2 posts up per week, doing them the day of.

To be clear, I am not complaining! I love my summer breaks with my kids, and I know there are only a few short years left that they will even want to spend each day with me. I just think I need to figure out a way by next summer to work smarter, not harder. I can't just stop working, I need to have an income, but maybe a better balance is in order!

OK, let's chat about my outfit, shall we? I am in love with this relaxed fitting chambray top! It was a no brainier when it came to styling as white denim just came to mind. To finish of the look I added a great tribal print bag, beautiful watch, neutral mules, and blue mirror sunglasses. In the end I felt put together but appropriate for the day of errands and summer fun.

OK, so back to me trying to find balance. On this day, I had to bring my kiddos with to my photo shoot. Luckily on this day, we did have three locations to shoot, but they were all close to each other and I was able to park close or have them walk over to the location with us. I don't like bringing them, I prefer to "get in the zone" when I work and not worry about them (also, hello...I change in my car!), but I had no other choice this day. See, I need to figure out how to do both better....or I need to be OK with bringing them to my shoots, guilt free. You guys, my mom guilt is strong! Let's be honest though, they were totally cool coming with and they were super well behaved. Maybe it's OK when my worlds collide...or maybe this mom is ready for school to start back up so I can finally go back to normal working hours! ;) In unrelated news, am I shrinking or are my kids shooting up like bean stalks?

"Come on little duckies, let's go to the pool!"

What do you think of this summer styling? Do you work from home and also have kids home for the summer? How do you find your balance? Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today, I hope you make it a great day! xoxo
