Let's talk nail polish

What's the deal with nail polish? I realize that the different colors that come out every year are just like the different fashion trends and it is your choice to pick and choose what works for you. Listen, I would never wear a harem pant just like I'd never wear lime green nail polish. But that's my personal style, nothing against either!
It dawned on me lately that there might be an "age appropriate" issue with some of these colors though. I wore this teal color that I found at Urban Outfitters for a few days and asked around. Most girls said the same thing. They would wear this on their toes, but not there hands.....followed by, but it looks great on you! haaa
Okay, is there age appropriate issues with nail polish? Am I dressing too young for a 31 year old (soon to be!) mother of 2 if I rock out these bright summer colored nails? Am I just being bold? Or is it personal choice?
I never feel this way in the fall/winter. I love wearing black, dark purple, navy, maroon, and forest green during these months and NEVER feel like I'm styled too young or too old. What do you guys think?

Kitchen Demo: Part 6- 5 Week Deadline

Today marks the end of my five week deadline. I decided to post pictures of how the kitchen looks as of today to show just how much has been done in this short amount of time. IT IS NOT FINISHED! The window was just put in yesterday and the drywall around it needs to be filled in and trimmed. The floor trim is not in yet, the doors have not been replaced, the paint is not done of the closet door, and everything still needs a good cleaning!!! I also still need to finish loading it in with the rest of my kitchen stuff. Who knew it would take longer to unpack than pack!? I hope you enjoy seeing it as much as I do. The past 2 days I just sit in there and stare! I AM IN LOVE!!!

Kitchen Demo: Part 5-Cabinets and Appliances

The cabinets are up and the appliances are in place! What a difference this makes! I can finally see my vision coming together and let me tell you, it is super rewarding! Next up, granite install, floor install, window replacement, door replacement, electric finish, plumbing, finish closet, and trim!

How'd She Do That?

Meet Gwen. Gwen has been my best friend for 20 years and she still surprises me! When we met up at the zoo for a play date, she showed up with her hair in this intricate bang twist. I stared at it for a good 30 minutes and then blurted out....How'd you do that?!
She said this was her spin on a braided bang since she can not french braid her own hair. I think it's better!!! It's similar to a braid because after each twist you pull in more hair, but it is super easy and extremely stylish!! I've already worn my hair like this twice! (Both times not as well as Gwen did it, but I'll figure it out eventually!) Thanks Gwen for the great hair idea!

Happy Accident

What do you do when it's 90+ degrees outside and you have 20 minutes to get ready and get out the door? Panic? No, braid! I haven't worn french braided pigtails since high school gymnastics, but I decided this occasion called for one of my classics! To make it look not as young, I pretzel twisted the ends and used bobby pins to secure. This happy accident turned out awesome and I will use it again to beat this summer heat for sure!

Off to a jewelry party

Dress: Francesca's
Necklace: Banana Republic
Shoes: Target

I was invited to a Stella Dot party at my friend Linda's house. It was nice to get away for a few hours by myself and do some eating and shopping! I also drank my water out of a wine glass and felt like it was truly a night out!
This gray dress was perfect for the occasion plus I love the detail on the back. It goes with LOTS of different jewelry so it was easy to try things on and really see if I would wear it. I also chose this necklace because it doesn't have a clasp to put on and off. You simply need to lift it over your head, so again it made it super easy to try other jewelry on. I finished the outfit with a cute gladiator flat mostly for comfort.
Jewelry pictures coming soon....

Shoe Dazzle- My June Selection

Hello 5 inches of gorgeous! I chose these shoes in honor of Sex in the City 2! How Carrie are these?! I now need to come up with a Carrie inspired outfit. Not sure if I will be rocking this look before of after the baby is born. These shoes seem kinda like a death trap for my preggers butt! ;) I can do 3 and 4 inch no problem, but 5 inches while pregnant might be pushing it! We'll see, I may surprise myself!

I felt like such a mom today....

Meet Lamby! Lamby is my son's BEST friend. They do everything from sleep to play together and if Lamby is not around it is temper tantrum city! You don't mess with a boy and his best friend! Now I've never been dumb enough to ask him this question, but if ask who he loves more, mommy or Lamby, I fear it would be too close to call.
My son also likes to chew on his face from time to time and after 2 years of wear and tear his eye was about to fall out. Mommy to the rescue! I had to sew his eye back in place. Let me just start by saying I don't sew! I can put buttons back on shirts, but that's about it! I was actually nervous because I didn't want to ruin him! I quickly found out that my son loves him no matter what and I was a hero for saving his lamb!
I used black thread to make it look like stitches! What? He's a boy! It's very pirate like!

Off to a house warming party

Dress: Pea in the Pod
Shoes: Alloy
Necklace: Express
Bracelet: Banana Republic
Ring: Banana Republic
Cardigan: Express

I just love this color green! I was so excited when I found this dress, I had to wear it right away! I paired it with a bib necklace from Express. The orange/red/brown/gold colors play off the green perfectly. I also love that I can just change up the accessories next time I wear the dress and it will be an entirely new outfit!
I continued the gold from the necklace throughout the rest of the look and threw on a brown and gold sandal.
To complete this look I had my hubby by my side! haa Okay, so he's not an accessory, but he a great looking addition to my look!

Latest Obsession: Hair Doughnut

Ever since the Sex and the City 2 premier I have been seeing LOTS of great buns in magazines. Everyone from Sarah Jessica Parker to Amanda Seyfried to Jessica Alba have been spotted wearing these high thick buns. I wanted to get in on this! I did some online research and came across the hair doughnut. I bought mine on Amazon for $3.99 for the 3 inch and $7.99 for the 3 and 1/2 inch. They come in blond, brown, red, and black.
I only wash my hair every third (sometimes forth) day so this is a great look for day 2 or 3! It's super easy and takes about 20 minutes to complete.
1) put your hair in a high ponytail and secure with a normal hair tie
2) slide the hair doughnut over the hair tie
3) using hair pins, secure hair over the hair doughnut leaving the remainder of your hair hanging out. (Do this all the way around the doughnut)
4) wrap the remainder of the hair around the bun.

This time I just wrapped it and secured it with bobby pins. The second time I did my bun I twisted the the hair making a really cool design. I think next time I'm going to try little braids! Get creative ladies!

This weeks "I want what she has!"

This weeks "I want what she has!" goes to Blaire Dalton. I am loving this top! The great detail around the neck line really make this an anytime shirt. I also love the length in the back! Blaire rocked this look with black leggings!

Shirt: $19 Filene's Basement

Okay, so I've actually never been to Filene's Basement. I have to say, after seeing this top I really want to go!

Kitchen Demo: Part 4- Dry wall and paint

The dry wall and paint is up!! The messy sanding part is over and the dust is settling....literally! It finally looks like a room and I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. Next step is the cabinets. They begin install this coming Monday and by Wednesday our granite guy comes out for the final measure. We will also be installing the closet shelf, hanging bar, and door this coming week. HOME STRETCH! We are still on time to meet the 2 weeks from today deadline. Wow, that feels good to write! 2 weeks from today I will have a kitchen!! That means I get my running water back! woo hoo!

Projects that are still in the works:
Window install on the first floor. (Messy to pull the frames out, but if we made it through the kitchen, we can make it through this!)
New front door and frame, possible new kitchen door and screen.
Paint in living room, family room, and upstairs hallway.
THEN NO MORE! I think at that point we want to just enjoy living in a nicer home!!!

A Great Necklace Will Do You Some Good.....

Dress: Target
Necklace: Francesca's
Shoes: Forever 21

This necklace would make a basic white tank glamorous! Actually, I kind of like that idea. I might try that next! ;)
I decided to dress up this $15 dress I found at Target, and this necklace sure did the trick! I felt very much like strutting around all day!
I also enjoy mixing neutrals so I paired this black dress with a gray bootie. I love that this outfit only consisted of three pieces! Totally simple, yet totally effective!

Dinner Party with some friends

Dress: Express
Shoes: Target
Earrings: Francesca's
Bracelets: ?? Collected over the years

I had so much fun this night! My hubby had to work late so he wasn't able to come with, but me and the little man had a dinner with some friends. This doesn't happen often so I decided to wear a new summer dress! I wanted to wear flats so I would still be able to chase the boy around, so I paired it with my new sandals from Target. I love the gold detail on these! I decided to carry the gold detail out in the rest of my accessories and went with some gold/copper bangles and some darling gold and white earrings. It was also the perfect outfit because I was able to eat all the ribs, potatoes, grilled shrimp, and cheesy cauliflower Stubhy made without looking like my clothes got tighter! Such a fun dinner table with Stubhy, Jillian, Jiggles, Jason, Bonnie, myself, and the little man. Let's do it again soon guys! I'll come ready in a stylish loose fitting dress and you can cook for me again! haa
