Luck is Everywhere!

 photo file__storage_emulated_0_DCIM_Camera_20160706_163903_zps8t9xhhk0.jpg
You may recall from previous years that I am one lucky lady who gets the pleasure of working with the Illinois State Lottery. In the past, they have sent me to see Erykah Badu and 311 so this year when they reached out, I couldn't wait to see who was playing. I was elated to find out they would be sending me to see The Roots and Donnie Trumpet. The excitement grew and I felt super lucky when Chance the Rapper announced he would be opening as well. I mean....perfect line up!

Like last year, the show was at The Taste of Chicago at the Petrillo Music Shell (Columbus Dr. & Jackson Blvd.). The setup was identical to last years, complete with VIP seating along the side rail, food tent stocked with everything from fish tacos to Lottery cookies, private tables and seating for chatting with other attendees, and clear views to seeing the acts enter and exit the stage. Not bad at all. If I wasn't feeling lucky enough, I just happened to be walking by as Quest Love was walking in. I looked up and was like "oh, hey!". To that he responded "What's up?". My night was made!

Erykah Badu #mywinningstory

Thanks to the Illinois Lottery, I was given two VIP tickets to see Erykah Badu at the Taste of Chicago. If you follow my social media, you may have seen a few photos pop up on Thursday and Friday about this night. And, oh what a night it was!

The Illinois Lottery has an "Anythings Possible" series where winners are asked to submit their winning stories. Head over to the website and check what all the winners have to say! And don't forget to tag #IllinoisLottery and #mywinningstory to be featured on the websites rolling photo gallery!

So here is my winning story:
I invited a fellow mommy friend, and we headed downtown in our "black SUV" Uber. I mean, a night in style deserves traveling in style, no?
As soon as we arrived, we were excited to find that our seats were literally right next to the stage! There was a tent with when you first walked in with tables, southwest dinner food (buffet style), refreshments, and passed light bits. Once outside the tent there were more tables set up as a lounge area, complete with citronella candles to keep the bugs away. The last area was right next to the rail. There were seats for all of us as well as standing room very close if you wanted to go up! Here are some photos from my night:

I mean, look how close we are! Myself and Lindsay took full advantage of the VIP view and rocked out to the opening band. It's never too early to dance, is it? We even watched Ms. Badu walk from her car to the stage right in front of us. What a fun experience this night was!

By the time Erykah stated playing the crowd was full of energy and ready to dance and sing. She came out with feathers around her neck, ready to put on a heck of a show. And how could you not, look how many camera's (including mine) were on her (check out the second photo below)! That has to be so much more pressure then just preforming. This is all being documented , her every move, every note she sang, but she seemed unfazed and sung her heart out. It was one great performance!

Have you ever won the Illinois Lottery (or any lottery at that)? Submit your winning story or let's chat in my comments section below!

#APMusicSeries

I jumped at the chance when I was asked to attend 311 at Northerly Island over the weekend. Thank you to Live Nation and The Illinois Lottery Anything's Possible Music Series! This is something I will never forget and you can enter to win tickets to see your favorite bands this summer too: "With over 30 concerts, weekly prizes and your favorite artists, the Anything's Possible Music Series is your ticket to an unforgettable summer soundtrack."
I was given 2 VIP tickets and had no idea what to expect, other then to have an amazing time, obviously!

Here is what I wore:

This was one fantastic night!
We got into the venue very quickly (thank you VIP entrance) and went straight to the VIP Club area. There were tables and chairs under umbrellas, with views of not only the stage, but also of the skyline and the lake. As the sun set, the views got even better! What a great place to see live music.

We had actual seats too, but we used this lounge area to eat, have a few drinks, and people watch before 311 took the stage.

This is where our actual seats were. We had the first section of the first row, under the canopy in the bottom level. They were the most amazing seats!

I mean, you can't not try the nacho bar with beer cheese.

Summer of passion continues. Such a fun date night out for us!

I have to say, it looks fun in general admission, but the VIP experience (private air conditioned bathrooms, wait staff, multiple seating areas, all you can eat buffet, the views, and the actual concert seats) made this concert an experience I never knew I always wanted! I don't know how I'll ever enjoy a show this big again and not have VIP! lol  #spoiled

The show was outstanding!
This was my first time seeing 311 live and I have to say, they sound the same live as they do on their albums. The crowd's energy was amazing and by nights end, this one went down as one of my favorite summer nights so far!

Have you entered to win your very own tickets yet? What live shows are you going to this summer?

A Decade of Commitment

Every year my hubby's band Lucky Boys Confusion plays at the House of Blues Chicago.
These are always my favorite shows, but this year was extra special.

This year, they celebrated A Decade of Commitment (10 years since their album Commitment came out).  Most of you know by now that I'm the worst rock wife ever as I do not know all their songs (or the words for that matter to most), but when it comes Commitment, I got that one! BEST ALBUM EVER! Seriously, if you do not own, get it, listen to it over and over..it's amazing.

Here is what i wore to the show:

Top: Piperlime (sold out) // Shorts: Free People // Bag: Rachel Zoe // Shoes: c/o Sole Society // Cuff: House of Gemmes // Bracelets: Baublebar // Watch: Fossil // Necklace: c/o Sarah Aghili // Rings: Lili Claspe

Ryan set the drums up at our house and has been playing daily for well over a month now. I realize I did not know him back when they became a band 16 years ago, but I'd go as far as to say he is playing the best drums of his life!

I have been so proud of him with how much he is practicing and how he does that for over an hour ever night after he works a 9-10 hour shift at work. I'm also proud that he waits until he has spent dinner and family time with the kids to start practicing so the kids have lots of dad time.
I am one lucky girl! (pun intended!)

Here are some shots from the show:

This is one of my favorite moves that the hubby does. I'm so glad I caught it on film this year! Rock God much?! ;)

This was hands down the best Lucky Boys Show I have even been to! The band sounded amazing the energy from the sold out crowd was so cool. Literally everyone in the house was screaming the words at the top of their lungs and dancing their asses off.
If you miss it, boy did you miss out!

Where you are the show this past Friday?
Are you a fan of Commitment?
