It's Wedding Season Again...

 photo 20150626_191650_zpsor2gienf.jpg photo 20150626_191646_zpswb903m0l.jpg photo 82639507-f6eb-4e1b-955f-958cdb369471_zpsryriy38m.jpg

It's wedding season again, which means it's time to rock the formal wear. If you are anything like me, you want to wear a dress that you know with fall into the following categories:
1) No one else will be wearing the same dress.
2) You can be comfortable enough in it all night (keep in mind excessive eating and ridiculous amounts of dancing).
3) Something that is a bit of a statement piece ie. not your everyday LBD.
4) You do not look like one of the bridesmaids when you are not in the bridal party. ;)
5) And lastly, a dress that you feel great in. You will be out for a romantic night or in my case a date night with the hubby.

I have quite a few weddings and formal events to attend to this year, so when it came down to choosing my look it was a no brainer. Use Rent the Runway! I already have two more dresses reserved for the next two nights out and am on the waiting list for the unlimited access. Why pay full price for a dress you may only wear a few times when you can rent it (with a bag and jewelry if you want) for a fraction of the price?! Seems like the perfect thing to do to me!

The cut-out back on this dress was amazing. I didn't even have to wear a bra and I was held in place all night. Keep in mind a LOT of dancing happened. It was so beautiful in person, no one else was wearing anything similar, I was able to eat tons and be comfortable,  I didn't look like the bridal party, and my hubby loved it to boot. I'd consider that one successful dress rental!

Color Pops in all the Right Places

 photo IMG_3163_zpsjw5fpars.jpg photo IMG_3177_zpstavol83f.jpg photo IMG_3164_zps7x07mpjm.jpg

Last time I wore this dress I kept the color pallet very muted by added nude heels, simple gold jewelry, and a matching mint bag. This time, I wanted to add a few pops of color to mix it up a bit. Sometimes you can make a statement dress transform just by adding different accessories. When dealing with a print dress, keep the shoes and bag solid, but different colors completely and somehow it just works!

 photo IMG_3200_zpsraefo24h.jpg photo IMG_3156_zpshmgeux1x.jpg photo IMG_3179_zps5j4kzbjb.jpg

By adding a yellow clutch and coral heels I added two colors that were not in the outfit but they matched the dress just right (in my opinion that is). I am a bit gold obsessed so I wore gold jewelry again and by adding my favorite denim jacket it dressed the look down a bit for a luncheon event I was attending this day.

I've Never Met a Print I Didn't Like..

In my latest swap bag from Kaitlyn, I found this beautiful print jumpsuit. Hello lover..we will be best friends for the next week or so!
With the weather here in the Midwest flip-flopping from cold and rainy one day to warm and sunny the next, this jumpsuit is the perfect solution. On this day it was in the upper 60's but the sun made it feel much warmer. This look was perfect for a day of running tons of errands and playing outside with the kids.

 photo IMG_3536_zpstq7qebil.jpg

I kept the look super simple by adding black flats, silver boho jewelry, and my favorite new tote bag. To finish it off, I added braids to my day 3 hair (yes, I go 3-4 days between washes!). I was cozy and stylish which has really become my go-to lately. Anything that feels like pj's and looks like I'm dressed is perfect in my book!

Great Food & Summer Fun (Plus a Giveaway!)

A few weeks ago I was invited to spend my lunch in Barrington at Meatheads. I brought my daughter with me, met other amazing bloggers and their kids, and heard all about Meatheads Voracious Reading Program. Plus as an added bonus I got to enjoy a darn good burger and milkshake. You guys, the food is so good! When I saw they had a drive through and kids menu, I was thinking this was another fast food place. Nope! No ingredients are ever frozen (except for the ice cream used in their shakes) and their fries are fresh cut daily!  I mean, fast food that is fresh and tastes amazing AND they help out the community? That is something worth sharing with you!

Here are a few photos from the event:

I was so excited to see a familiar face! What a small world to run into Cheryl of All Dressed Up with Nothing to Drink. This event was about an hour away from where I would normally run into her, so it was a good surprise!

Meatheads is not only all about community & helping to get our kids excited to read all summer long, they are also hosting tons of events! Check here to find out what's going on in your area. I know my family will be going to a few of these!
It's not just about the Voracious Reading Program though, look what else they are up too:

      Community Programs include:
The Meathead of the Month - recognizes local, high school athletes each month
Voracious Reading Program - encouraging kids to read more in the summer and hosting summer reading events at all of its locations
Meatheads rewards kids who read 5 books over the summer with a Lil’ Meathead burger
Voracious Readers Parties throughout the summer (FREE) with special guest authors, bookstores, libraries etc to promote reading! (more information here
Special opportunities to win $50 Meatheads giftcard and 4 tickets to the Shed all summer long
Excellent Pinterest page lists recommended books and includes a Book of the Day!
○      Meathead of The Game - Meatheads celebrates young athletes in organized sports who choose to participate in real games.

It's TIME to Shop for the Dads

 photo IMG_3528_zpsxukpm5qo.jpg
With Father's Day quickly approaching, it's time to shop for all the wonderful dads out there. This year I got my husband a wooden watch by Jord. This beauty was the perfect gift for him as I felt the watch was just as unique and fashionable as he is.

Since no one knows more about my mans fashion then him, he's going to run you through his outfit choice today.

 photo IMG_3481_zpszvdrafvf.jpg photo IMG_3488_zpsevpnb6lw.jpg

Ryan: A few quick Summer suggestions that work both at the office, and at weekend get-together's - pair a polo with some khaki's, and some nice deck/boat shoes (no socks, but get some odor-eaters in the soles). Don't be afraid to show a little ankle! Also, don't layer a t-shirt under the polo - it bulks you up unnecessarily. And finally, accent with a nice watch, such as the Jord Dover model shown here. The koa and black wood design gives the outfit a more casual vibe than your standard silver/gold timepiece, without sacrificing style or sophistication. Go get 'em!

Top & Pants: Banana Republic // Watch: Wooden Watches by Jord // Shoes: E Street Denim // Sunglasses: Rayban // Belt: Express

Looking good Mr. Fergus, looking good. ;) I couldn't agree with him more. What can I say? I love my man's style! I hope these photos do this watch justice. With the exposed gears I could watch that timepiece forever. Swoon...

Now, once you have your watched purchased and in route, you may want to pick up a few other gifts for the others dads in your life. Here are some great other items any guy would be happy to receive:

More Chambray to Love

 photo IMG_3248_zps2iyxoucb.jpg photo IMG_3252_zps1e3ec9x8.jpg

When it comes to chambray, I just can't get enough! I have quite the collection now and when I spotted this jumpsuit it took me all of 2 minutes to decided I could not live without it.
To style the jumpsuit for a mid-week GNO to the movies, I kept the look casual but chic. I added a coral kitten heel, a major bag, statement necklace, and then cuffed the ankles. To finish the look off I added gold jewelry, and because it was in the 80's, I went with braids for my hair.

 photo IMG_3264_zps614ppuvk.jpg photo IMG_3242_zpsf1eekb6d.jpg

This outfit was super comfortable but it was also perfect for my girls night. It was so humid out so the braids really were the only way to go. I love how light in color this chambray is! That also helped as far as how cool it kept me. I can't wait to style it again and again all summer long!

Jumpsuit Season

 photo IMG_3136_zpslo1q8xd4.jpg photo IMG_3111_zpsmexka1vl.jpg photo IMG_3118_zpstxstczmk.jpg

This jumpsuit has been one of my favorites since I found it last March when I was shopping for a girls trip to Nashville. I have only worn it maybe four times so far, but that's only because it's a bit of a statement piece and I feel like it is very memorable. I love wearing jumpsuits this time of year because they are the perfect layering piece and a great one really makes you stand out.

 photo IMG_3115_zpsmouktc4w.jpg photo IMG_3140_zpskigtqw1k.jpg photo IMG_3122_zpsqqt1obid.jpg

I tried to mix up the styling a bit by adding boho gold jewelry, strapy black heels, and a brown cross-body bag. To finish off my look for a mid-day weekend party, I added my faux leather drape jacket. This jacket makes any outfit better, no?

 photo IMG_3132_zps4obqtyja.jpg photo IMG_3134_zpsvzlr2xuw.jpg

I brushed out my curls to give my hair more of a retro feel and kept the part very uneven. Just let you hair fall in it's natural pattern ladies, you will be surprised and happy with the results!
