My Heavy Heart & Summer Staples

Hey guys! I hope everyone is enjoying their week. This is our first official week of summer break and I have to say, my kids are loving not waking up at 6:10am everyday. That said, I have been finding it very difficult to post on IG or here for that matter lately. Not because I don't have the time, ideas for content, and certainly not because I don't need the money....sponsored blog posts and "swipe up" links on IG are how I make a living! That said, I have not posted there or here in over a week now. I just feel like, how can I continue to talk about fashion, gardening, recipes, etc while the world is such a crazy place? How can I promote products while children are being ripped away from their parents and put in literal cages?

The news makes me cry daily and I feel very helpless. Sure, I can donate, but in the grand scheme of things what is being done to make our country a better place in the long run? It just seems to be getting worse and worse. My heart aches for what is going on in our country right now and I don't know how to make it better. From gun violence to racism, from the immigration crisis to our President's actions, from suicides to the opioid crisis, and global warming to all the dangerous weather this past year... I just feel so sad that my kids are growing up in this time. So I guess I just needed a mental health break from social media. Do I feel better now? Not even close! But maybe you feel the same, and maybe I'm not alone in my despair. And it's time for me to get back to work already. ;) I guess I just wanted you to know that I very aware of the state of the world and I'm not just in my little bubble thinking the world is great as I share my favorite fashion. I will continue on with both eyes wide open and I hope you do too!

SHOP THE LOOK:

OK, let's get a little less heavy today, shall we? This outfit is the perfect example of summer staples and how they pair so well together. Little white dress...check, straw tote...check, gingham heels...check, and a light weight cardigan...check! If I wanted to take this look from day to night, I would wear flat sandals and keep the cardigan on for daytime. For night, I would switch to these great heels and put the cardigan in my bag until it cooled down later and I needed it again. Easy peasy.
