Backyard Remodel: Deck Upgrade

Hello my beautiful friends, I hope your week is off to a great start. With the holiday this past Monday, I've got my days all messed up. That said, this week seems to be flying by. I wanted to catch you guys up on a bit of a remodel that started back in April. These photos were actually taken the first week of April, so that is why the grass is not green yet. There will be a follow up post to this one with how we decorated the deck and you better believe with all the rain we are getting here in the Midwest  that the grass is beyond green and lush. Probably the best part of the rain actually! ;) OK, back to our deck remodel.

We have lived in our home for three years now (well, three years in early June) and we always went back and forth on if we wanted a deck or patio. Prior to this, our backyard was a place our kids played. A place that in a pinch we could fit a chair or two on the deck but if we wanted to be out back, we would have to set chairs up in the grass. That worked fine for two years! My ankles would get itchy and I wouldn't stay out too long, but it worked. Here is a look at the original deck that came with our home.

When it came to hiring someone, I searched online quite a bit for a company that was local with great reviews and with great quality work. We decided to go with a Ceder deck and we worked with a man named Ken from Outback Builders. He worked with us to design this deck on the budget we had while taking into consideration what we wanted to use the space for. We couldn't be more happy with the finished product! The experience with Outback Builders was a wonderful one. They built this deck in about one week and the men who built it were punctual and friendly as well. In the end we have a beautiful deck and the quality and craftsmanship of the finished product is truly outstanding. I am truly blown away!

Do you have a deck or patio in your backyard? What do you think of our deck upgrade? Make sure you follow along here on the blog, I will be posting an update to this post in the next few weeks!

Thank you for stopping by the blog today. I hope you make it a great day! xoxo
