Must Haves for Spring in Chicago

FOUR MUST-HAVES FOR SPRING IN CHICAGO FROM GILT EDITORIAL DIRECTOR, TRACEY LOMRANTZ LESTER
#1 PRINTED UMBRELLA My rainy day uniform usually consists of all black, so I love the idea of adding some print into the mix with a playful umbrella. You can't go wrong with a classic Missoni zigzag--and considering how chic it is, it's almost impossible to forget in a taxi.
  • Missoni Compact Umbrella Gilt $79 (Original $145)
#2 TRENCH Every single woman on the planet needs a trench in her closet for spring, and Phillip Lim's version has all of the elements of the classic, with just enough modern details to make it feel fresh.

  • 31 Phillip Lim Belted Cropped Trench Gilt $289 (original $795)
#3 OVERSIZE SUNGLASSES Celebrities know what they're doing when it comes to oversize sunnies--they're like armor! I hide behind mine when I haven't had enough sleep or didn't feel like putting on mascara.
  • Kate Spade Albertine Round Frame Gilt $59 (Original $128)
#4 TOTE Black and white is huge news this spring, and I love that this tote combines both hues in one piece that goes with absolutely everything. The graphic pop makes it a no-brainer for bright spring dresses or jeans and a bold top.

  • Pour La Victoire Tote Gilt $179-$219

I think the printed umbrella is a good idea. Most people in Seattle don't use umbrellas, but I do when I take the kids out. Wouldn't mind having a stylish umbrella to tote around.
