Top Looks of 2017

There are only three days left of 2017, say what?! This year really flew by and I have to say, I am very happy for this year to be coming to an end. It wasn't my family's worst year or anything, but it definitely wasn't the best. We did have many blessings, and many low points....that said, I am oh so ready for the "clean slate" a new year brings. Or should I say, a clean slate state of mind.

Another thing a new year brings? Change. There are tons of changes coming to the blog soon! Ahhhh....I can't wait to share them all with you, in the meantime lets take the look back at this year in fashion. I have pulled my favorite seasonal looks and I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed styling them.

What Does Fearless Style Mean to You?

During my trip to cabi headquarters in Los Angeles, I was part of a photo shoot where we were asked to style an outfit using cabi Clothing's new fall line. After each of the eight bloggers picked out and styled our own looks, we were asked to jot down (in five words or less) what fearless style means to us. The first and only thing that came to mind was "No Rules!".  You can read more about this campaign and what the other bloggers said it meant to them over on the cabi Clothing blog

Recap: #cabiScoop Fall 2017

I recently attended #cabiScoop in Nashville at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. What is cabi Scoop? Here is more about the event: "It’s a special weekend-long departure from the ordinary—a fashion party we throw twice a year, where we invite each and every cabi Stylist from all over the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. to come together and celebrate the gorgeous season to come. The days are filled with presentations, training sessions, and of course, our Fashion Show; we’ll take time to celebrate last season’s successes, particularly those of our Stylists, and you’ll get the inside scoop (pun intended!) on what makes our Fall Collection so special (hint: a lot!). Plus, enjoy tailored career coaching, sage advice on how to develop a strong, healthy business, and most of all, a fun-filled time full of laughter and friendship."

OK in retrospect, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Here is what I did know: I was going to attend a fashion show to show off cabi's new Fall collection, there was a shopping event I had plans to check out prior to the fashion show, and a dinner out for all of the bloggers later that night. As I told you last week, I brought my large luggage for my 24 hour trip and OMG you guys, I am so glad I did! Check out the video recap above and then scroll down for my play-by-play of the most amazing day with the cabi team, around 3700 cabi stylists, and 11 bloggers (including myself).

First off, talk about a cabi take over....the Gaylord Opryland Resort was covered with giant signage and so many areas for photo opportunities. Kind-of a blogger dream! ;) I flew in the day of the event, so after a quick stop at my room, I headed down to see what this shopping event was all about.

Adding Volume & Fullness With Clip-In Hair Extensions

 photo hair-4_zpsad6zv9cz.jpg photo hair-2_zps7vhzuqkx.jpg

As most of you know, I am in love with all things hair & braids. I am also someone who loves all things extensions and currently have Dreamcatchers extensions in my hair (see full post on those here). My current hair extensions have been since November, with move up maintain every eight weeks. Over the past seven months, as my natural hair grows longer, I have fewer pieces kept in at my move-up appointments. At this time I have a little over 1/2 of what I had put in at my first appointment still in full time.

Now, about my new ombre balayage clip-in extensions from Best Hair Store. First off, the quality of this virgin hair is amazing as they are made from 100% real human hair. Meaning, you can wash, dry, straiten, and curl these extensions just like your natural hair. They are a great way to add volume and length to your hair and they are so easy to clip into place. On this day, I only added four pieces to my hair. Two small single-clip pieces on each side, and one large three-clip piece to the back of my head. This way, my braids were larger and the hair style I created this was fuller then it would have been had I not added the pieces.

Top Looks From 2016

Another year is coming to an end, putting yet another year of blogging my fashion up for all of you to see. If someone told me back in January of 2010 that I would still be blogging (one month shy) of seven years later, I would have never believed it. I have blogged my entire second pregnancy, my son's autism diagnosis, co-owning a company, changing jobs, moving houses, and everything in-between. I can't believe that I am still at it to be honest! But here we are and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for coming back week after week, month after month, and year after year! I am blessed to have this outlet and all the doors it has opened for myself and my family over the years. I never in a million years expected to be here, but I am overjoyed you have allowed me to stay doing what I love!

OK, now back to my top looks of the year. Here are my favorite twelve outfits from this year. As you can see, I chopped off eight inches of hair in the beginning of the year, went ombre, and then got 20 inches of extensions at the end of the year. If my hair changes this much, can you imagine how much my style changes on a weekly basis?! ;)

Top Looks from 2015

Here we go again! This past year I slowed down the amount of posts I put out for the first time in 6 years. With blogging 5 days a week over on Sisters Marie and having two kids (and all that comes with being a homemaker) it was the right move for me at the time. As most of you know, the company I co-owned went under this year, so my plate was a bit overfull and then it was all about finding a new balance. This time though, my new balance would include writing for just myself and carving out a lot more "me" moments in my days. As it should be. ;)

I'm not sure what 2016 will bring, but I do know there will be some changes here on Stilettos and Diaper Bags. Get ready for more fashion, more recipes, and as my family enters a new chapter of buying (and decorating) a new home, I will post all about it here!

So this year I only put out 61 outfit posts. That is way less then the 150 I put out in 2014! The major change this year was my hair. A few months into 2015 I decided to chop off seven inches. About one month later I cut off another three inches. Since then, I have been growing it out but I'll probably go for the "big chop" again at some point in the next year or two. My hair grows so fast, so why not?!

I give you my favorite looks from 2015:

Fall Shoes by DSW

This post is sponsored by DSW Shoes.

What better way to start off the fall season than with a new pair of shoes from DSW? When it comes to shoe styles for the entire family, DSW really does have you covered. Whether you are looking for everyday wear or something for a special occasion (hello, holiday season right around the corner!), you can find anything and everything you need all in one store.

I was in need of a great everyday flat bootie and was very excited to find these dark gray beauties. I love a great shoe that is not only comfortable but also stylish. I mean, how fun is this color?  They really do go with everything and are an unique twist on a classic shoe style we all know and love. I think they look perfect paired with cuffed boyfriend denim like I was wearing this day, and just as cute styled with a dress and faux-leather jacket or skinny jeans and long cardigan.

My son decided he was in need of a dressier shoe. These boy's flats are so amazing. My son thought the style was just like cowboy boots (minus the boot), and we both loved how they are Velcro. Yes, just lift up those adorable buckles and slide your feet in. Such a perfect style for kids who hate tying their shoes! I also loved the ombre-type type coloring. These will be great for the holiday season ahead, and also for a fancy day at school. He actually wore them to school once so far, and as soon as he got home he told me that at least 40 people told him he had great shoes! Now if that's not a reason to love DSW footwear, I'm not sure what is.

DSW has a large assortment of fall shoe trends for you and your family. My daughter and husband will both be getting some new kicks too soon. We found way too many pairs we all love!

Here are some of me and my family's favorite shoes currently selling:

Which of these nine beauties are your favorite? Do you go to DSW for your family's footwear needs too?

At DSW, we believe that shoes have the power to bring out something great in everyone. So no matter who you are or how you dress, we've got just what you need. Shoes say a lot about you. Spend a little. Say a lot.
