I decided I wanted to read Gone Girl because a) I knew nothing about what the book was about, but everyone has BIG opinions about it, b) The movie is now out and I can go see it, and c) Word is that the book ending is bad and they may have changed said bad ending in the movie.
Great, a new fun read that people say you get super addicted to and get through it super fast. I'm in!
So the best way to describe me as I read this book is a line from Anchorman (the first one) "I'm in a glass case of emotion!". ;)
Seriously!! OMG! So here's what I went through as I read Gone Girl (keep in mind I had no idea what I was about to read):
I love her and I like him and feel a bit bad for him. Never mind, he's a jerk, but I still love her. Never mind, she's a psycho, back to feeling bad for him. Wait a minute, that's not ideal, I feel bad for her again. Wait, now this is just crazy. They are both crazy. This story is crazy!
And then there's the ending. I have to say, I didn't hate the ending. (OK, yell at me in the comments section.) I'd recommend this book for sure! Such an unexpected read and much different from the types of books I've been reading lately.
What did you think of the book? How did you think it should have ended?
Did anyone see the movie yet? I can't wait to do so and see if I like it with a different ending. Let's book chat in the comments section to not ruin it for anyone who has not yet read it!
