Top Looks From 2016

Another year is coming to an end, putting yet another year of blogging my fashion up for all of you to see. If someone told me back in January of 2010 that I would still be blogging (one month shy) of seven years later, I would have never believed it. I have blogged my entire second pregnancy, my son's autism diagnosis, co-owning a company, changing jobs, moving houses, and everything in-between. I can't believe that I am still at it to be honest! But here we are and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for coming back week after week, month after month, and year after year! I am blessed to have this outlet and all the doors it has opened for myself and my family over the years. I never in a million years expected to be here, but I am overjoyed you have allowed me to stay doing what I love!

OK, now back to my top looks of the year. Here are my favorite twelve outfits from this year. As you can see, I chopped off eight inches of hair in the beginning of the year, went ombre, and then got 20 inches of extensions at the end of the year. If my hair changes this much, can you imagine how much my style changes on a weekly basis?! ;)

Christmas Party 2 & 3

Between Christmas Eve & Christmas, Christmas Eve is the more dressy of the two days for us. On Christmas day we attend our 1st party in our pjs and the second one in jeans, so this is always a great excuse to get dolled up. I haven't actually worn my vintage DVF wrap dress in years (why, I have no idea!), so I decided it was high time to break it out again.

I wanted to pair it in a way I hadn't in the past and also in a way that would be unexpected. I think adding navy boots and this amazing faux leather jacket was just the trick to mixing up my pairing this night. I of course needed to add glam, so I put on my favorite new necklace and lip color, and great rings plus a killer bag to finish the outfit off.

What do you think of this pairing? How was your Christmas?

Christmas Party 1 of 5

I can't believe another year has flown by. Each year, here on Stilettos and Diaper Bags, I document all of my holiday party looks. I attend five Christmas parties every year, yes, five! We all get together with my mom's side of the family (cousins, aunts, uncles, grandpa, and siblings) early in December so we only have to make it to four parties in the two days, Christmas Eve & Christmas. I realize this seems like a lot. It is a lot! But, I wouldn't have it any other way! How fortunate are we that we have such a large family and so many places to be? It's all about perspective and I personally am so excited to see everyone over the holiday season!

Dashing Through the Snow

Who else is obsessed with reindeer sweaters? I'm not talking about all the "ugly Christmas sweater" party tops, I'm talking adorable, wearable, beautiful festive knits. I recently found this one on Black Friday, and snagged it at The Limited for under $20! Sadly, it is sold out, but I have added tons of reindeer knits you can shop a few photos down!

Winter Whites

This outfit encompasses everything that I love about winter fashion. It is also a great example of mixing high-end items with pieces that are more cost effective. Then add in the fact that I LOVE wearing lots of white and cream in the cooler months of the year, and my outfit this day made me very happy.

Plaid Swan

See what I did there with the title? It was between that and "Christmas AF", so I figured "Plaid Swan" would be more appropriate. But seriously, how perfectly SJP (or Carrie Bradshaw for that matter) is this outfit? I can totally see her rocking this to a holiday party or any December event really.  Now, can we discuss the amazing backdrop used in two of my photos? My favorite ice cream shop turned into a gingerbread house for the holidays and I am obsessed. I not only want to shoot all of my blog posts in December there, but the holiday flavors they are putting out are to die for. (Shout out to the Milk House!)

Getting Fringy with it

It doesn't get more classic winter style then this! My weekend wear generally consists of denim, a cozy knit, and some great accessories. Owning a few blanket scarfs is a perfect go-to for every and any day. This plaid one, years later, is still one of my favorites!

Outtakes: Volume 8

I can not even believe it is already December 2nd, man this year is really flying by! I'm super excited for the weekend, mostly because it's the 1st weekend in months where we only have one party to attend. The rest of the weekend belongs to us and relaxing. Since these are few and far between I will take full advantage. So I leave you on this Friday morning with a smile on my face. Now, to get you smiling I wanted to share my latest installment of outtakes. Nothing makes me smile more then going through my photos and finding these gems. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Dressing to Music: Maroon 5- Don't Wanna Know

How do you even get this song out of your head? It's so darn catchy, add a great beat, some truly sad lyrics, and you've got yourself a hit. This would have been my 20's anthem you guys! Between this song and Beyonce's entire Lemonade album I would have totally crushed my break-up days so much better then I did. This generation has some good heart break music to live by. Fefe Dobson was only able to do so much for me! ;)

That's the wonderful thing about music though. It can be like a friend that gets you through a tough time, a beat that wakes or pumps you up during a workout, or something that gets your body moving and having a great time dancing the night away. Music has always been a very big part of my life and because of that it is a big part of my kid's lives as well. If you think both my kids don't dance around to this jam then you don't know my house. We rock out nightly!

Here is the outfit I styled as I listened to "Don't Wanna Know" by Maroon 5.
