Spring break Recap (Part 2)

Chicago ---> Louisville ---> Nashville ---> Birmingham ---> Destin

I recently recapped our road trip headed down to Florida, and today I wanted to tell you all about our time in Destin. Three of my four siblings spent spring break in Destin last year and loved it so much they wanted to go back. We excitingly joined in the fun this year and found a house that could accommodate 18 people. My brother did an amazing job and found this house that had 5 king size bedrooms (all with their own full bathrooms), as well as a third floor with bunk beds for 8 and a second small room with one additional set of bunk beds. Long story short, the house was amazing! The backyard had an in-ground pool and large gas grill, we were a short walk away form the beach and Pompano Joes, it was all just perfect for a relaxing week in Florida!

We were on the no plan, plan going into this week. Sure, we knew we wanted to get to the beach each day and I had no plans of cooking so eating out was definitely in our future, but at the end of the day, we just wanted to relax. It was absolutely just what the doctor ordered! Some of our highlights include: pool days, beach days, adults hangouts at night, lunch at the harbor, dinner on the beach (twice!), breakfast together everyday, and watching all the cousins play. The memories we made this week, the memories our kids made this week, are something none of us will ever forget!

Destin is such a family friendly place. I honestly thought it might be a more "spring break woo" vibe, but it was all families! The beaches are beyond gorgeous, crystal blue and green waters lined with the most beautiful white sand. It felt like we were in the Caribbean or something, and honestly I can't wait to go back the year after next!

Destin is definitely the place to be with new construction popping up all over. It looks like everyone just realized how great it is and now they are expanding to make room for the masses. The restaurants are lined up down the beach and harbor and honesty I didn't eat anything that I didn't think was absolutely amazing. The town of Destin was very clean and well taken care of. It also felt safe, we walked around at all hours of the day, even sunset with our kids. There are also tuns of tourist areas! So many places to get souvenirs, our favorite was Alvin's Island. We opted for a more relaxing week, but if we had wanted to be out and about everyday there would have been plenty to do. You can find out more about things to do in Destin here.

Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today. I hope you make it a great day! xoxo
