On Wednesday I headed to Gwen's house (my bestie of 24 years) so this was my attempt at play date chic. ;)
I mean look at the outfit, not one item is super unique when you look at each item separate.
It is simply a basic brown leather jacket, a striped cardigan, a striped knit, skinny jeans, and a gray ankle boot. Separate they are all good, but together they are great!

When it comes to neutrals, I love to mix mine. Gray, black, white, and brown were simply made to be interchangeable. I also thought it would be fun to mix striped tops.

See what I did there with the title? That's for sure my favorite Ramones jam.

Just because it's below 0 degrees outside doesn't mean you can't rock the rock wear right?!
I decided to layer and layer and then add mittens and a beanie to stay warm on this super chilly day. I mean what are our options other then keep layering up? It's beyond freezing out.

Jacket: Buffalo Jeans (similar)(similar) // Cardigan: c/o Sammy Dress // Tee & Bag: Forever 21 // Jeans: Express // Boots: c/o Just Fab // Hat: Target // Mittens: Juicy Couture // Sunnies: Ray Ban // Necklace: Clyde's Rebirth

What do you think?
Would you layer these colors, prints, and styles all in one outfit?

Recipe: Bacon Bits & Egg Stuffed Avocado

I am forever looking for high protein and super yummy breakfast ideas for my family.
When I saw this pin on Pinterest, I decided I wanted to try it, but mix it up a bit to fit my families tastes and dietary needs.

Ingredients:
-Ripe avocados
-Eggs
-Shredded Cheese (optional)

 photo ee652205-48c0-4f63-a016-3cf7e1970561_zpsb28c5c2c.jpg  photo 208cfe63-beae-4a9f-8a0a-742898b6775e_zpsfc5fd896.jpg photo 6d07d1f0-014d-49fc-bf78-15199daf3d7e_zps14e4bb91.jpg
Directions:
1) Preheat oven to 425 degrees
2) Cut avocados in half and take out pit. Scoop out about 1/2 the avocado to make room for the egg.
3) Crack egg and put 1 egg in each avocado half.
4) Add Hormel bacon bits.
5) Add shredded cheese (optional)
6) Cook 15 minutes

These were AMAZING! I put the extra avocado that I pulled out of the center before cooking on the side of the plate. My hubby loved it, the kids loved it, I loved it...SUCCESS! ;)

Have you ever tried an avocado breakfast recipe?

Over the weekend we headed up north to our family lake house. I love when the eight of us are all able to sneak up there (the four in my family, my hubby's sister and her husband, and both my hubby's parents).

What better way to spend a weekend then relaxing with family, eating, sledding, and playing both kid and adult card and board games?!

Knit: H&M // Jeans: Levis // Boots: Hunter Boots // Necklace: House of Gemmes // Hat: Piperlime // Sunnies: Swap w/ Kaitlyn // Snowflake Ring: Disney Frozen (swap w/ my daughter)

It was about 20 degrees out so the last picture is how I wanted to pose in every photo! lol

I am loving Kaitlyn's new camera lens. These photos turned out great. Head over to the Sisters Marie Blog today to see what Kaitlyn wore on our snow day.

What do you wear on snow days?
When was the last time you went sledding?

Outfit: Unexpected Pairs

I was recently asked to participate in a side-by-side style challenge by Amanda and Jennie of 2 Girls in 2 CitiesSarah of The Kissing Booth was also asked to style a look.

The focus of the outfit we would be styling was "unexpected pairs". This can be interpreted in many different ways and as you can see above, we all went in our own direction with it.

Here is my look:

 photo 584410ef-d347-4dcb-9c6e-d47c33f4affb_zpsfc2849be.jpg photo b77090f4-f163-468b-905d-9d0fce39b4e1_zps8ef1316f.jpg photo 36b14df0-cc33-4751-baaf-0ab1e118a376_zps6fd25e8b.jpg
When I think of unexpected pairs I think of patterns. Pattern mixing can be scary, epically when you choose two very different prints. I knew this was a time to just go for it and try to mix two pieces that I would never have thought to mix.
I ended up with leopard print and a great green and navy geo print. Oddly enough, I think they pair quite nicely together!

I finished the look off by adding a chambray top under and a nude pump. A few simple gold jewelry pieces and a black and gold bag tied the look together and ta da, my "unexpected pairs" outfit.

What do you think?
Would you have ever thought to pair these two items?

Since January 24th is National Peanut Butter day, I decided I needed to try a recipe using the Skippy peanut butter.
My entire family LOVES peanut butter and why not make a yummy desert midweek?

There are tons of recipes to choose from on the Skippy website, and the one that caught my eye right away were the Buckeyes

Here is what you'll need:

The instructions were super easy to follow and even though mine don't look as nice as the ones on the website, I bet they taste just as good! ;)
These are amazing! I can't believe I've never eaten a buckeye before this.

How adorable is this top?
I found it in my latest swap bag with Kaitlyn and I was super excited because it looked like a sweatshirt, but it's actually a knit. This is a perfect example of everyday wear around my house.
This day I did not leave my home. Could I have worn yoga pants and a hoodie? Yes. Did I choose to wear a simple yet cute outfit instead? Always! ;)

This is also a great example of the type of everyday jewelry I wear. The necklace is a perfect length that my kids don't mess with it, one ring and a watch...done!
