Outfit: My Son, The Stylist

Every morning I go into each of my kids room and pick out an outfit for them. Yes there are days that they vito my choice and pick out a different look, but most days they have the same taste as me when it comes to what they wear.
On this day, my son said "OK, now let me pick out your outfit!" So naturally I let him as I was very curious what he would pick out.
I do not have a walk-in closet (though I desperately need one), so I have three different sections of hanging clothes (two in my closet, one wardrobe rack on the wall) and I also have a dresser.
Eight minutes later he emerges with this peplum and these chevron shorts. Seriously!
Truth be told, I forgot I owned these shorts. And I'm not sure I would have thought to pair the two but when he showed me I was like, "Babe, I'd totally wear that. I love it!" His face lit up and he said "yeah, I thought so."

I jazzed it up a bit by adding black and gold accessories and a bright summer lip.

I, OF COURSE, will be asking him to do this again for me. Was this beginners luck? Maybe. Does he have the "fashion bug" too? Maybe.

Product Review: Sunology

I am forever on the hunt for natural skin products. Throw in the fact that I recently had a surgery to remove skin cancer and pre cancer cells in multiple spots on my body (posts here and here) and I now find myself on the hunt for great sunscreen for the summer. 

Sun protection is more important to me now and I have myself and my family's skin to take care of. This is a responsibility I take very seriously.

I tried both the body and face on myself for one week and I have to say I am hooked. The face sunscreen has worked great under my everyday makeup and even though I have been outside daily, my skin feels healthy and not one spot of redness! I do reapply every couple of hours.

I also really love Sunology for kids. Both my children have sensitive skin and neither of them had any sort of irritation to it. I used it on both their faces and bodies for one week daily as well. Again, we were outside all week long and I reapplied every 80 minutes or so. Their skin looks great and no burns to tell of!

I would say this product is a must try for the summer! It doesn't have a "sunscreen smell" and a little really does go a long way.

Family Picnic

Yesterday was a beautiful day so I decided to take the kids for a picnic. We met up with my hubby's parents and grandma too! Yep lunch at the park with the grandparents and great grandma was a great way to spend a summer afternoon.

I decided to keep it super casual with white denim and a tee. I finished the look off with flats and a few silver accessories and lets not forget this amazing bag I packed filled with yummy eats and drinks!

Vienne Milano: Luxury Hosiery

I was recently asked by Vienne Milano to try out a couple of pairs of their luxury hosiery.
Being a lover of all things undergarment, I decided I needed to try these beauties out ASAP.

Here is how I styled "Claudia" in black. I kept the pallet dark by mixing black and blue and added color in my accessories.

These Italian thigh highs are amazing! They are so comfortable and I loved that they did not slide down my leg even though I had no garter on.

The packaging is beautiful too. Here are a few photos of the box and the items I was gifted:

As you can see in the last photo, the inside of the top of each hosiery has a silicone band. It is comfortable and effective in keeping these thigh highs in place all day or night. 

Have you ever tried Vienne Milano's thigh highs? I would highly recommend them for any occasion and their wedding collection is amazing too! 

Outfit: My Life, Mom Life

 So this is my "office". Well, my outside one anyway. If we do not have sports/school/play dates/movie plans, we are always outside in our yard. 

I've owned this romper since 2010 and it is still one of my go-to's for cozy home wear. This day was warm during the day but cooled down quite a bit in the late afternoon. This long cardigan was just the thing to take my outfit from day to night. 

And what do you do with day three hair? A hat and a side braid of course!

Toddler Fashion: Summer Glam Outfit

How adorable is this floral sequin dress? I love it and so does my little bean. I was very drawn to the sequin front and exposed zipper back. For sure something I would rock out if I was her age! 

I really like that the dress comes with capri leggings as my daughter loves get down on the ground and play as often as possible. 

A great pair of capri leggings turns all summer dresses into a play appropriate looks. No mom wants to run around pulling their little ladies dress down all day! ;)

Summer Recipe: Cobb Salad Lettuce Wrap

Now that the kids are out of school and summer is on the horizon—ease into your new routine with fresh and simple meals to keep your family full and happy this season!

Forget the fast food! For a quick and wholesome snack, pack this tasty Cobb Salad Lettuce Wrap featuring HORMEL Chunk Chicken and HORMEL Real Bacon Bits.

Here is what you will need: 

Ingredients:

• 1 head iceberg lettuce, leaves separated
• 2 (10-ounce) cans HORMEL® Chunk Chicken, drained
• 1 (2-ounce) jar HORMEL® Real Bacon Bits
• 1 cup diced tomato
• 1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese
• 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
• 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
• 4 hard-cooked large eggs, peeled and chopped
• 1/2 cup ranch salad dressing

Directions:

On platter, arrange each ingredient. Fill lettuce leaves with chicken, bacon bits, tomato, cheeses and eggs. Drizzle with dressing; roll up lettuce.

We used romaine lettuce and different cheeses to fit our families tastes and dietary needs. The great thing about this recipe is there is no wrong way to make it!

My entire family LOVED these. Yes, even my kids ate the up very fast. I can't wait to make these again and maybe even add avocado this time.

Outfit: Another Weekend, Another Date Night

The date nights are continuing between myself and my hubby. Having our sitter home from college is really a great thing. To know our kids are home safe with someone we trust (and honestly we fell like she is family), allows us to get out and have some adult fun!

I have not worn this jumpsuit in about a year now. Why not? I have no idea! I was digging in my closet and found it in dry cleaning plastic and got so excited. I kind of forgot I owned it. (Does this mean I own too many clothes? No. The answer is always no.) ;)

I decided to pair the jumpsuit with a white blazer and lots of gold accessories. I finished the look off by adding mirror sunnies and a mint bag.

This outfit was the perfect thing for our date. I ditched the blazer at dinner giving it a more sexy feel and when we went to the movies, I had a nice warm blazer to put on (why is it always so cold in movies?).

Cocktails with Mode

I have been with Mode Media (formally known as Glam) since October of 2013 and this was the first event of theirs I have been to. This was a great opportunity to not only inquire about what is to come this year, but all to celebrate the success of the previous year.

I decided to wear this new wrap dress because we would be on a rooftop and I needed a dress that would not pick up with the wind. I also wanted a flattering silhouette and I do not own anything more flattering then a Kristin Hassan wrap dress. Truly! It's cinches above your waist making you seem much slimmer then you are. SCORE!
I kept the styling simple by adding a nude shoe, gold jewelry, and a mint bag.

The event was at 52Eighty Rooftop Lounge in Chicago. 

As soon as I saw the skyline, I knew I needed to take a panaromic photo. Not a bad view huh?! This was my first time at this lounge, but I plan to go back. 

The food was super yummy and the signature drinks were beyond!

I wish we would have gotten a photo of all the ladies who attended, but below is a shot of about 1/3 of us. So fun meeting fellow Mode Media bloggers from Chicago. I can't wait to chat more with some of my newer acquaintances and obviously is was so fun seeing some girls I am proud to call my friends!

It was also super great seeing Hallie of Corals and Cognacs who was in from NY to host the event.
